Free SVG to
3D Icon Maker

Turn an SVG icon, a logo or text in any language into a polished 3D icon in clay, glossy, glass or metal, choose the angle and light, and export a transparent PNG, a GLB or an OBJ file.

Loading the 3D view…

Drag to rotate, scroll or pinch to zoom. The export uses exactly this view.

Export

The PNG has a transparent background. The GLB opens in Blender, Spline and most 3D apps and keeps the finish best. The OBJ (a ZIP with the model and its .mtl colours) suits older 3D apps and 3D printing. Your files stay on your device; the model is built and rendered in this browser tab. Privacy Policy

What is the 3D Icon Maker?

3D icons give landing pages, app screens and presentations depth without a 3D artist. This free tool extrudes any SVG, or text in any language, into a beveled 3D shape, lets you light and frame it, and exports a high-resolution PNG or a GLB or OBJ model. It runs entirely in your browser: no account, no upload, no watermark.

From flat SVG to 3D icon in five steps

The model rebuilds as you move a slider, and the export uses exactly the view you see.

01

Add an SVG or text

Upload or paste your icon or logo, start from one of 6 samples, or switch to Text and type in any language.

02

Pick a material

Clay, glossy plastic, glass, brushed metal, chrome or a soft two-color gradient. Keep the SVG's own colors or choose new ones.

03

Shape it

Set the depth, bevel and corner rounding. Holes in letters and rings stay holes.

04

Frame the shot

Choose a camera angle or drag to orbit, add a tile or a contact shadow, and pick a background.

05

Export

Download a PNG at up to 2048 px, transparent if you like, or a GLB or OBJ to keep working in 3D.

How it works, and what it can't do

What happens to your SVG or text, and why some files work better than others.

How the 3D model is made

three.js reads the SVG paths, works out which sub-paths are holes from the SVG's fill rule, and extrudes the shapes with a bevel. The result is centred and scaled to a standard size, so any viewBox or unit works the same.

How it's lit and rendered

A built-in studio environment provides reflections, with a key light and a soft fill, rendered with WebGL using neutral tone mapping and correct color space. PNG exports are rendered again at the full export size, not captured from the preview.

What happens to strokes

Extrusion needs filled shapes. Lines (strokes) are converted to the filled outline of the line at its width and given depth, but no bevel. Text inside an SVG needs converting to outlines in your design tool first, or use the Text mode.

How text is made

HarfBuzz, the shaping engine browsers use, arranges the letters: Hindi and Punjabi conjuncts and matras, Arabic joining and right-to-left order, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Each script uses a free Noto font downloaded from Fontsource, or your own .ttf or .otf. The outlines then go through the same 3D steps as an SVG. Your text is never sent anywhere; only font files are downloaded.

What it cannot do

It can't model shapes beyond a straight extrusion (no inflation or sculpting), keep SVG gradients, patterns or images, or animate. Mixed right-to-left and left-to-right text on one line uses a simple order, not the full bidirectional algorithm, and color emoji become single-color shapes. Glass needs something behind it to refract, so it looks flat on a transparent background. A spinning turntable video isn't available yet.

Three common uses

Illustrative: each uses one of the samples in the tool above, so you can recreate it in a few clicks.

Feature icons for a landing page

Load the Bolt or Chat bubble sample in Clay, three-quarter view, with a contact shadow. Export transparent 1024 px PNGs and place them over any section color.

An app icon mock-up

Turn on the tile, pick a white or brand-color tile with Glossy, and use the front view. The rounded tile reads as an app icon in decks and store graphics.

A logo for a 3D scene

Load the Letter A sample, keep its holes, choose Chrome or Brushed metal and export a GLB to light and animate further in Blender or Spline.

Frequently asked questions

Which SVGs work best?

Simple, solid icons and logos made of filled shapes: one to a few colors, no tiny details. Holes (as in O, A or a ring) are kept. Outline text and expand strokes in your design tool for the cleanest result; the tool can turn strokes into solids itself, but they get no bevel. SVG gradients, images and filters are ignored.

Why does my icon look flat?

Turn up Depth so the sides show, add some Bevel so the edges catch the light, and switch the camera to a three-quarter or isometric view. A straight-on front view of a shallow icon will always look close to 2D.

Can I use the transparent PNG on any background?

Yes. With the Transparent background, the PNG keeps an alpha channel, so you can place it on any color or photo in Figma, Keynote, Canva or a website. Turn on the contact shadow if you want it to sit on the surface. Glass is the exception: it looks best rendered over a solid or gradient background.

How do I use the GLB file in Blender or Spline?

In Blender, use File › Import › glTF 2.0 and pick the .glb file. In Spline, drag the .glb into your scene. Materials come across as standard PBR materials, and you can relight, animate or combine the icon with other objects there.

Can I make 3D text in Hindi, Punjabi or another language?

Yes. Switch to Text and type or paste in any language: Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Bengali, Arabic, Urdu, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai and many more, plus emoji. Letters are joined and ordered correctly, including conjuncts, matras and right-to-left scripts. Free Noto fonts are used by default, or upload your own .ttf or .otf font. Your text stays in your browser; only the font files are downloaded.

Should I download GLB or OBJ?

Choose GLB when your app supports it (Blender, Spline, Unity, Unreal, Cinema 4D and most web 3D tools do): it is one file and keeps the material closest to the preview. Choose OBJ for older 3D apps or 3D printing. It comes as a ZIP with the .obj model and an .mtl file for colours; keep both in the same folder. OBJ materials are basic, so glossy, metal and glass finishes look simpler and may need touching up.

What resolution are the PNG exports?

512, 1024 or 2048 px square. Each export is rendered again at that size rather than enlarged from the preview, so edges stay sharp. If your graphics card can't render 2048 px, the tool uses the largest size it supports and tells you.

Is it free, and is my logo uploaded?

It's free with no signup and no watermark, and nothing is uploaded: the SVG is read, built in 3D and exported in your browser using WebGL.

Can I use the 3D icons commercially?

Yes. The tool adds no license of its own, so renders of your own icons and logos are yours to use anywhere. For icons from an icon set, follow that set's license.

How it works, data handling & limitations
How it works
SVG input is cleaned with DOMPurify; typed text is shaped with HarfBuzz into glyph outlines from Noto fonts (or an uploaded font). three.js then reads the paths, works out holes from the fill rule and extrudes them with a bevel. The model is centred and scaled to a standard size and lit with a built-in studio environment. PNGs are rendered again at the export size; GLB files are written by three.js GLTFExporter, and OBJ files with their .mtl materials by a writer built into the tool.
Data & privacy
Your SVG, text, any font you upload, the 3D model and exports stay in your browser. The tool does not upload them to our server, store them in a database or log downloads. External links inside the SVG are removed before it is read. In Text mode, Noto font files are downloaded from Fontsource (api.fontsource.org and cdn.jsdelivr.net); your text is not sent, but Chinese, Japanese and Korean fonts come in pieces, so the font service can tell which groups of characters were needed. Site analytics, ads and normal page requests still apply.
How we evaluate/test it
SVG normalisation (centring and scaling), extrusion settings, camera positions, export size limits the stroke-to-solid conversion, the OBJ writer and text layout (script detection, run splitting, right-to-left order) have automated tests. The six samples, materials, PNG, GLB and OBJ exports, and text in Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and emoji, were checked in Chrome on desktop with WebGL; other browsers and GPUs were not tested.
Limitations
Shapes are straight extrusions: no inflating, sculpting or animation, and SVG gradients, patterns, images and text are not converted. Strokes get depth but no bevel. Text needs an internet connection for fonts, mixes right-to-left and left-to-right on one line in a simple order, and turns color emoji into single-color shapes. Glass looks flat on a transparent background. Very complex SVGs can be slow, and the largest PNG depends on your graphics card.
